What Will Be On Your Ballot?
Shall North Jefferson County Ambulance District impose a sales tax of an additional one-half (1/2) percent for the purpose of providing revenues for the operation of the North Jefferson County Ambulance District and the total property tax levy on properties in the North Jefferson County Ambulance District shall be reduced annually by an amount which reduces property tax revenues by an amount equal to fifty percent of the previous year's revenue collected from this sales tax?

What Changes With Proposition EMS?
NJCAD is required by law to roll back property taxes by half of the prior year’s sales tax collected. As a result, local property taxes would drop significantly. This shift would result in approximately 7% of the district’s budget coming from property taxes, 76% from sales tax, and 17% from the User Fee.
How Does Sales Tax Differ From Property Tax?
While district residents pay property taxes only through home ownership, rent or vehicle ownership, everyone who makes a taxable purchase in North Jefferson County pays sales tax, including visitors.
